Mr. Wally Spisak, a year veteran teacher at St. Peter Chanel High School, teaches all visual art courses. These semester courses are: Drawing 1, Drawing 2, Intermediate Drawing, Painting 1, Painting 2, Sculpture/Ceramics, and Portfolio Development. All Chanel students have the ability to take four years of art. One semester of a fine art is a requirement for graduation for all students.
Under Mr. Spisak's tutelage, students can reach higher levels of technical ability, thinking, and creativity. Mr. Spisak stresses individual achievement for all students. As a studio artist, Mr. Spisak declares himself a realist because his subject matter tends to be accurately represented with extreme detail and focus. He favors using graphite to creative his drawings. These renderings have been consistent in subject matter, either portraits or landscapes. When creating landscapes, Mr. Spisak relies on mental imagery withour using visuals. This gives him the freedom of spontaneity in regards to composition. As a painter, Mr. Spisak creates murals, portraits, aviation paintings, and abstracts using oil and acrylics. |
